November 20th is Sal Day!!!
Ode to Sal
Who is this man known
to us as Sal?
I think of him as our Special Pal.
He provides coverage of each guy and gal,
that wonderful friend known to us as Sal.
Cadets march up and
down and to and fro
And there is Sal everywhere they go.
Parents at home wondering and full of woe,
Until we see our kids on Sal's great video.
Sal is always on
the fly,
Never letting an activity pass him by.
Filming with the greatest of ease,
For Moms and Dads always to please!!!
Operating in stealth,
his motive's not wealth,
but to capture memories and dramas.
The one who we count on,
he sometimes gets pounced on
when filming for Fathers and Mamas.
Sal, how many other
parents do you know
Who sit starry-eyed watching a video
Whooping and hollaring for one brief sight
Then continuing to watch that same video throughout the night?
Who's that guy with
the special pass?
Filming cadets crawl through the grass.
Getting ordered to leave the grounds,
he'll be back to film more rounds...
It's Sal It's Sal It's Sal
While filming the
special USAFA Cadet events
Whether jumping from planes or sleeping in tents
Sal's doing much more than producing a show
He's their guardian angel wherever they go.
Nudging and wiggling
to get a good view
Sal definitely does his work for you
He gets in position to do his work
And soon he comes to be known as the "Jerk"
Sal a Jerk!, not
to the FUN Bees.
His work is the finest , you see,
Of our cadets, the best that be!
Those who disagree are Esso Bees!
Us Newbie parents
wait to feast
On Sal's famous video of each yearly Beast.
For us it is our very first view
Of freshly shorn heads and our kids in blue.
What would Acceptance
Parade be
Without a shot of our new C4C's
Getting those shoulder boards with smiles on their faces
Thank heavens you get into all those places.
Wherever we see Sal,
we call him by name
He may not know US; we know HIM just the same
Dear Sal, our talented
cinematographer,
Is adept at the keyboard, too!
Writing poignant stories and hilarious jokes.
Without him what would we do??
Cry buckets of tear
for four long years
Completely without a clue
Of what's happening with our precious kids
At USAFA, aka the Blue Zoo.
I've never met Sal,
But I feel like I know him,
He's my eyes, my ears and my heart,
While my cadet and I are apart
There once was a
Chief named Sal
We know the Air Force was his call
He is a warrior standing brave and tall
He sets an example for us all
We have a Jodie for
Sal,
Keep your camera on, pal;
our folks love the shows
and the family pride grows;
and we love you, each guy and gal.
Always moving, dodging
here and there,
Sometimes getting into other's hair.
You desire a special, big reward,
But that ...none of us can afford.
From our hearts we say Aloha, Mahalo
We love you Sal, this we know!
